ABOUT THE CLOWN MEETING MAGICLOWN IN IBIZA
Dearest friends,
We have received so many calls and e-mails, after the publicity has
come out of the next clown meeting in may in San
Jose, about our not being present in this festival!
So it is really time to respond.
We want to communicate you something right out of our heart.
As you know, already for six years our school has cooperated with
the town hall of San Jose in the organization of the
clown meeting (La Trobada) in the month of march.
Every year there was this so nice reunion of very close and dear
friends.
Eric de Bont organized all these years the artistic
part of this meeting. We offered this organization
part always for free to the town hall, also last
year we invited them to use the spaces of our
school, also completely for free.
This year in January we put ourselves again in contact with Gerardo
Marin (culture) to start the organization again of
the next meeting (like usual). But he told us that
the town hall did not agree anymore with the actual
form of the meeting, and that they wanted to look if
there was a possibility to connect the clown meeting
more with tourism. In that moment they did not want
to organize the clown meeting, Gerardo told us so.
But the big surprise came one day later, when we totally unexpected
heard that the town hall already had put themselves
in contact with Ivan Prado, director of the
Festiclown organization in Santiago de Compostella
to ask them to organize the new meeting of clowns in
San Jose, not as small as the Trobada., but a real
festival. And that it already had a new name
Magiclown.
As you can imagine, after all these years, this hurted very much.
The decision of the town hall is totally correct and
they have all the right to change the form of the
meeting, they put the money. But in not one moment
communicating their intentions with us and not
talking with us in not one moment and than saying to
us there will be no meeting , but already have
started the organization of the new festival….for us
really a shock, after 6 years of cooperation .
Really we do not know what has happened.
We tried to put ourselves in contact with the town hall and Ivan
Prado , but they even did not respond at all,
unbelievable.
The reaction of Gerardo Marin was, that the things are, like they
are, that we could give a workshop and offering our
spaces in the school, for which they would pay a
financial reward for these services. But there was
no explanation why the things have gone this way.
We believe that our participation in the last 6 years have been
very important for the development of the clown
meeting in San Jose. A lot of teachers and artists
have come here for very few money to play or teach,
because of their friendship with Eric de Bont and a
hugh percentage of participants have been
ex-students of our school..
For us, the way they have taken their steps and the lack of
communication is a treatment without respect for our
school and work here and for the history of the
clown meeting. We do not deserve this.
We did not want to talk negative to nobody and therefore we have
communicated the town hall, that we cannot
participate in this meeting because we have a lot of
work in these dates (official version).
But to our friends and contacts we want to say the truth. We
do not want to participate in this festival,
because in the way they have treated us and that
there is no communication and a great lack of
respect:
But!!!!!! Friends!!! It’s a great opportunity for you all to meet,
learn and watch.
Therefore we all invite you to come and enjoy it.
In these days we will not be here at the island and
the school will be closed, because it still hurting
to much.
We wanted to explain this to you, because for a lot of people it
will be very strange not to see us there. Sometimes
the art and the culture are a reflection of pure
human being, also of lack of communication or lack
of respect. But art and culture have to stand above
this all and there fore we are happy that the
festival is there in Ibiza.

DIRECTION OF A CLOWNSPERFORMANCE FOR ALL THE
ORGANIZATIONS CLOWN & HOSPITAL IN SPAIN
Eric de Bont will direct a clowns performance for the
organizations of clowns and hospital of Barcelona,
Murcia, Valencia and Mallorca.
Encarna de las Heras will do the dramaturgy.
Pallapupas of Barcelona organizes this production.
We will work in May, July and September in Barcelona and the
premiere will be in Murcia in November. We will
inform you!
DIRECTION CLOWN PERFORMANCE WITH LOS CORLEONE of
A.M.I.F.
In May and June Eric de Bont will direct a small clown performance
with the group
Los Corleone de Ibiza. Los Corleone is a group of three persons
with a mental handicap, members of the AMIF,
Association for people with a mental handicap of
Ibiza and Formentera. When the performance is good
we want to travel with them to the mainland of Spain
and play there. If you know possibilities for them
to play put yourself in contact with us.
DIRECTION CLOWNPERFORMANCE ABOUT DRUGS FOR
ADOLESCENT PEOPLE
In Holland Eric de Bont directed 13 years ago a clowns performance
for the government of Holland. The theme was , to
start using drugs and ending in criminality. It was
a great success, the theme is still very actual, so
there will be a remake for Spain with two Spanish
women clowns, Susana Cebrián and Belinda Condado, ex
students of our school, direction Eric de Bont.
